THE ‘BEST OF BRITISH’ GIRLS, Oct 04

For those of you that are already fans of the Best of British shop tucked down the side street of Rue Armagnac in Carcassonne, you will notice two new faces behind the counter.
After two and a half successful years running the shop, Anne Dinneage has reluctantly had to hand over the reins due to commitments in the UK. The two new smiling faces belong to Louise and Hilary Elsom who moved out here earlier this year.
Louise says “ We have lots of great ideas for the shop, including a wider range of items for sale, perhaps selling small gifts and in the future looking to open a tea shop with the possibility of an outside garden area. We would like to serve the needs of the expats in their quest for home comforts including bacon, sausages, sliced bread, Cadbury’s chocolate and vegetarian products amongst others. We would also like to cater to the needs of the French people here who may be interested in our range of English teas, preserves and other items.”
By starting a tea shop, Louise and Hilary hope to create an environment where people who would like to perhaps make new friends can come and meet up and have a chat over a cup of tea, an English scone and have look at the English daily newspapers. The shop hours will also be changing from the 1st October, opening from Tuesdays to Fridays-10am-5pm continuously and Saturdays-10am-4pm.
It goes without saying that everyone will be welcome to come and visit, have a look around the shop, browse the food items and wide range of books and have a chat with the new shopkeepers. Louise and Hilary hope to see you soon!
